Biography

Bob Bernick is a long-time political reporter in Utah. He worked for 33 years for the statewide newspaper Deseret News, the last 25 as political editor. As political editor, Bob wrote a weekly column for the op-ed page and has covered any number of state, local and national races, including attending the party presidential nominating conventions since 1988. 



He has covered the Utah Legislature for more than 30 years. 



Bob left the Deseret News in May 2010 and soon joined UtahPolicy.com as a contributing editor, where he appears once a week with Managing Editor Bryan Schott in the state's longest running video podcast on state and local politics and writes several political stories each week. Bob also writes a weekly Friday column on politics.



Bob was born and raised in Salt Lake County, the son of a newspaper reporter and banker, and earned journalism degree from the University of Utah in 1974.



Bob and and his wife Shelley, a mortgage banker, live in the Avenues neighborhood of Salt Lake City, have two adult daughters and a Welsh terrier named Winnie.
