Disability Advocacy 101

Central Utah Center for Independent Living and the Grassroots Advocacy Partnership invite you to attend Disability Advocacy 101. We will meet at the Department of Workforce Services, basement conference room: 1550 N. Freedom Blvd, Provo. 2:00 - 3:00: Kris Fawson of the Utah Statewide Independent Living Council and the Legislative Coalition for People with Disabilities will teach us about the history of advocacy in Utah, current state of affairs, and best practices for success. 3:00 - 4:00: Sunny Todhunter from Central Utah Center for Independent Living will discuss 'nuts and bolts' of the legislative process including timelines, budgets, legislative committees and key legislative staff positions. 4:00 - 5:00: Kris and Sunny will be available for hands-on help with YOUR advocacy efforts such as writing your story, setting appointments with your legislators, testifying before a committee, navigating the legislative website, and much more.
