Donors Rewarded with Discounts on New Gear

World Care, in partnership with MyCampUSA.com, is presenting The Trade Your Tent Event at the 12th Annual Salt Lake City International Sportsmen's Exposition that will be held March 18-21 at the South Town Expo Center. The concept is simple: Earthquake victims in Haiti are in desperate need of decent temporary shelter, and generous outdoors people are an obvious source for gently-used tents and sleeping bags. For every tent and sleeping bag dropped off at the show, a discount good for $50 off select tents and $25 off select sleeping bags will be applied to purchases at MyCampUSA.comIt is estimated that nearly 1 million people have been displaced from their homes in Port-au-Prince and the surrounding areas. MycampUSA is partnering with World Care for the Trade Your Tent Event. People can trade their gently used tents and sleeping bags for new ones at Mycamp USA. The old tents and sleeping bags will be sent to World Care’s warehouse in Tucson, AZ where they will be packaged and shipped to Haiti. For more information visit www.tradeyourtentevent.com or www.worldcare.org.
Since the massive earthquake that hit Haiti on January 12, World Care, a Tucson based non-profit humanitarian aid organization, has been collecting first aid, hygiene and emergency supplies aid in the relief efforts. World Care is partnering with several federal and international aid organizations sending supplies to the people of Haiti by the truckload. To date, World Care has sent over $1.5 million in resources to Haiti in 8 40-foot containers.World Care is dedicated to helping the people of Haiti, and intends to continue sending supply until there is no more need. Monetary donations are also needed in the relief effort as they help with shipping, packaging and purchasing costs. Donations can be made online at www.worldcare.org or checks can be mailed to our warehouse. World Care is collecting First Aid supplies such as gauze, bandages and wound care items (such as hydrogen peroxide or antibiotic ointments). World Care is also collecting hygiene items including soaps, shampoo, and toothbrushes/toothpaste. New or gently used blankets, dried goods (rice and beans) and canned foods are also appreciated. At this time, World Care is not collecting clothing donations to go to Haiti.
