Provo City Veterans Day Program

Provo City Veterans Day Program, 11 a.m., Covey Center for the Arts, 425 W. Center.

Provo City will honor former and present members of the U.S. Armed Forces at a Veterans Day program on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Covey Center for the Arts, 425 W. Center.  The keynote speaker will be Major General Brian Tarbet of the Utah Army National Guard and the theme will be "Women's Contributions to the Military."  Mayor Lewis Billings will recognize local residents Marilyn Steffensen and Pearl Rex-Hartzell for their outstanding service. 

 

The program will also include musical numbers by the 23rd Army Band Brass Ensemble, a flag ceremony and military drill by the BYU Air Force ROTC, and a display of rare historical documents from the private collection of Brent Ashworth.  A light lunch buffet provided by A Viking's Feast will be served at noon. 

 

The event, which is sponsored by the Provo City Veterans Council and America's Freedom Festival at Provo is free and open to the public.  Veterans are encouraged to wear their military uniforms.
