"Enjoy the Victory" and "Put One Foot in Front of the Other"
(Note: UtahPolicy.com has invited Mike Winder and Kevin Fayles, two candidates for mayor of West Valley City to share their campaign experiences this year. To read earlier posts and biographies of the two candidates, see the Campaign Journal page.)
Mike Winder: The final vote percentages in Tuesday's primary election were very humbling: 76%, with opponent A with 15% and opponent B with 9%. This terrific victory would not have been possible without many supporters who donated, helped with signs, honk-n-waves, and getting neighbors out to vote. For any who may read this, THANK YOU!!!
Kevin Fayles: So, Tuesday’s Primary election is two days behind us and Mr. Winder received 75% of the votes. That, from my perspective, is unfortunate but not insurmountable. I’d like to think most of those votes came from name recognition, rather than an evaluation of my ideas for the city’s future. But then, being outspent almost five-to-one didn’t help either.
