GOP Can't Just Dissent; Must Have Realistic Policy Proposals
Republicans have a decent shot at picking up some seats in Congress next year, according to an interesting column by Gerald Seib in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal.
Support for Democrats is declining, and Republicans have history on their side. However, so far in the young Obama administration, Republican inroads have come almost entirely by opposing unpopular Democratic initiatives.
Republicans are making a living as critics because they have the luxury of not being in control, of not having to do the heavy lifting of governance.
But at some point, Republicans are going to have to put forth detailed and realistic proposals of their own on the big issues facing the country. Angry dissent will only get them so far ...
