News Analysis: Herbert vs. Corroon on Taxes
Gov. Gary Herbert has taken a hard-line, "read my lips - no new taxes" pledge going into the next legislative session.
By contrast, Herbert's toughest potential Democratic opponent, Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon, recently helped raise taxes by a modest amount in the county (after making major budget cuts that included layoffs and program reductions).
So, advantage Herbert, right?
Well, probably.
But I wouldn't draw any firm conclusions . . .
