Sentiment for Budget Cuts, Tax Hikes, is Measured

Faced with a nearly $850 million budget shortfall, a plurality of registered voters in Utah say the state’s lawmakers should cut services instead of hike taxes to fill that hole.

A new Dan Jones & Associates poll commissioned by Utah Policy, The Exoro Group and CPPA shows that 46% of Utahns say the legislature should “definitely or probably cut services," while 30% say the Legislature should “definitely or probably raise taxes.”  however, another 15% favor a combination of both, so a total of 45% favor some sort of tax increase.
