The Deseret News on Sunday published an interesting story about how higher education budget cuts in Utah may affect the quality of education. Significant cuts have already been made, and more are probably on the way.

It's interesting to contrast the Deseret News story with a fascinating article in Fast Company magazine, September edition, entitled, "Who Needs Harvard?" The article describes how higher education is being transformed by "a cadre of Web-savvy edupunks," offering online courses, Wiki universities, and Facebook-style tutoring networks.
