Peter Reichard appointed President of Utah Foundation

The Utah Foundation Board of Trustees has appointed Peter Reichard as the organization’s new president. Reichard will take over from long-time President Steve Kroes on July 1, 2017.

Reichard comes to Utah Foundation after 15 years with the Bureau of Governmental Research in New Orleans, where he served as Director of Research. He is currently president of the Governmental Research Association (GRA), the national organization of governmental research professionals, and he has served as a GRA trustee since 2010. Earlier in his career Reichard was a journalist; his work included serving as managing editor of a business weekly. He holds degrees from Loyola University in New Orleans (B.A.) and Fordham University in New York (M.A.).

“Steve has worked with the Utah Foundation board and staff to build a remarkable legacy,” Reichard said. “I am deeply honored by the opportunity to help advance this organization’s critical work on behalf of Utahns.”

GRA will be holding its annual conference in Salt Lake City this year, bringing in 28 public policy research groups from around the United States. The conference begins July 16th.

Utah Foundation also announced the appointment of Samantha Brucker as a research analyst. She received her B.A. in Culture and Communication from Ithaca College and her M.A. in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from the University of Delaware. Samantha has a background in environmental and energy affairs and water resources. Brucker joined the Utah Foundation team on June 5, 2017.

Shawn Teigen has added new title as well. He will now be Vice-President and Research Director of Utah Foundation with additional responsibilities for day-to-day management.
