Hatch statement on EPA Administrator Pruitt’s announcement to repeal the Clean Power Plan

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah)—the senior Republican in the United States Senate—released the following statement after Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt announced the decision to repeal the Clean Power Plan.

“I applaud EPA Administrator Pruitt’s decision to roll back the Clean Power Plan,” Hatch said. “This plan was a capstone of the Obama administration’s ideologically-driven War on Coal and embodied out-of-control executive power at its worst. The goal of keeping our air clean should focus on examining alternatives to costly regulations, such as technology. American innovation—not onerous regulation—is the path toward a cleaner future. Moving forward, I am committed to reining in harmful, unnecessary environmental regulations to ensure that hardworking Americans across Utah and the country have access to affordable energy.”
