Congressman John Curtis announced that Ryan Leavitt, a long-time Senate legislative staffer, will be joining his Washington, DC office as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director.
Most recently, Ryan Leavitt served for a number of years as Counsel to Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT).
“We are putting together a talented team to assist me and the people of Utah’s 3rd Congressional District. Ryan brings significant policy and legislative experience to our team, and he is eager to help us advance solutions to encourage economic growth, secure our nation and help serve the district,” Congressman-Elect Curtis said.
“John has outlined an ambitious legislative agenda aimed at making a real difference for people across the district,” Ryan Leavitt said. “He has a track record of getting things done, and I’m looking forward to helping him to hit the ground running in Congress.”
For the past three years, Leavitt has served as Counsel to Senator Orrin G. Hatch (UT) on the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and in the Office of the Senate President Pro Tempore.
Ryan, a graduate of BYU and George Mason School of Law, has served for nearly six years in the United States Senate, as a policy advisor to Senators Orrin Hatch, Mike Lee, and Dean Heller.
Throughout his time in the Senate, Ryan has had the responsibility of advising senators on a wide range of legislative issues including antitrust, cybersecurity, criminal justice, natural resources, judicial nominations, and telecommunications policy.
He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors in Political Science, and he earned his Law degree from the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. Ryan is an active member of the District of Columbia Bar. He, his wife Allison, and their baby daughter reside in Northern Virginia.
