Governor appoints new public information officer and director of correspondence and digital content

Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Anna Lehnardt as public information officer following Kirsten Rappleye’s transition to the Lt. Governor’s office.

Lehnardt previously served as communication specialist for Gov. Herbert, executing digital and multimedia communication strategy on behalf of the administration. She is receiving her master’s degree in comparative literature and holds bachelor’s degrees in English, French and German from the University of Utah. During her time at the University of Utah, Lehnardt served as editor-in-chief of The Daily Utah Chronicle.

Trey Hansen, who has served as director of correspondence, will now also oversee digital content. Hansen received his bachelor’s degree in history from Westminster College.

“In the brief time she has been in our office, Anna Lehnardt has elevated and sharpened the governor’s social media capacity,” said Paul Edwards, deputy chief of staff for communications and policy. “Lehnardt brings to her new public information officer role a deep appreciation for the craft of journalism and a tireless work ethic. Similarly, Trey Hansen’s strong and substantive writing will provide a significant lift to our digital content — improvements that will be evident in the coming months.”
