USTAR, in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, is now accepting nominations for the 31st Annual Governor’s Medal for Science and Technology Awards.
The awards honor those who have made an impact across their careers and highlight accomplishments in 2017. Following the final selection of the 2017 awardees, Gov. Gary R. Herbert will present the awards at a ceremony on June 6, 2018.
The Governor’s Medal award program was initiated to recognize those who have provided distinguished service or made significant career achievements that have benefited the state of Utah in the areas of science and technology. Nominations can be made in one of four categories:
- Education – K-12
- Academic/Research
- Government – Individual or Agency
- Industry – Individual or Company
“These medals represent the true leaders in innovation and the educators who are influencers statewide,” said USTAR executive director, Ivy Estabrooke, Ph.D. “We look forward to honoring those who have played a pivotal role in shaping Utah’s science and technology landscape.”
Nominees must have demonstrated important contributions in the fields of science, STEM education, engineering technology or technology management. Previous award recipients and current members of the medals review committee are not eligible for nomination. A one-page nomination form is available for download online at: GovernorsMedals.ustar.org
