Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber and David R. Golden, chair of the Utah Transportation Coalition issued the following statement on Gov. Gary R. Herbert signing H.B. 362 Transportation Infrastructure Funding into law:
“We want to thank Governor Herbert and the Legislature for demonstrating tremendous economic leadership. H.B. 362 represents a comprehensive solution to Utah’s transportation needs,” said Beattie. “This fiscally conservative approach will save Utah taxpayers through investments in maintenance and preservation needs, while also making investments for Utah’s future growth. Additionally, Utah’s voters will also now have the opportunity to support action on critical needs in their local transportation systems including transit, trails, sidewalks, and local roads.”
“This represents the most significant transportation funding legislation in nearly 20 years and will ensure future economic prosperity for decades to come,” said Golden. “A well-maintained and multi-modal transportation system has and will continue to pay dividends for our economy, environment and quality of life.”
