The Governor’s Office of Economic Development is proud to announce that Chuck Spence was sworn in as President of the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, a national organization consisting of 97 Procurement Technical Assistance Centers with more than 600 members on March 18, 2015.
PTAC helps small businesses with all aspects of government contracting and procurement, including help at the federal, state and local levels. Spence also serves as the deputy director of the Utah Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC).
“We’re incredibly lucky to have such a strong team at GOED,” said Val Hale, executive director of GOED. “Chuck has been an outstanding deputy director, and with him at the helm of this national organization, we look forward to his part leading economic expansion through national PTAC efforts.”
As president of the organization, Spence will have responsibility over 11 regions and seven committees that represent the organization to congressional, federal and private-sector stakeholders. PTAC offices provide personalized instruction that help businesses find contracting opportunities that can in turn generate new revenue and sources of funding.
In 2014, Utah’s PTAC business clients were awarded just under $700 million in contracts. PTAC is ready and available to serve as a valuable resource for small businesses to work with not only government, but schools and the military. In simpler terms, if your business has a product that can be sold to private industry, it can also be sold to public industry as well. A number of Utah businesses are taking advantage of PTAC, but with proper guidance almost any established business can begin to work with state and federal agencies that can be cumbersome to navigate alone.
