Podcast: Bernick and Schott on politics #322

Bob Bernick and Bryan Schott run down the week in Utah politics.

We’re back after a week on vacation.

Sen. Orrin Hatch says he would be willing to step aside in 2018, but he basically wants to pick his successor (Mitt Romney). Plus, Democrat Jenny Wilson is considering a run for Orrin Hatch’s Senate seat next year, too.

A conservative legal analysis says President Donald Trump will be able to undo the Bears Ears National Monument. Gov. Gary Herbert has invited Trump and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to come to Utah to discuss public lands issues.

The search for a site for a new homeless shelter continues. Draper City tried to volunteer two sites, but residents there didn’t like the idea too much, going so far as to shout down a homeless man during a public meeting. Such Christian behavior!
