Chaffetz among Republicans with the most constituents relying on Obamacare

Jason ChaffetzRep. Jason Chaffetz may want to think long and hard about what goes into the GOP-sponsored replacement for Obamacare. That’s because he’s among the House Republicans with the most constituents using the Affordable Care Act.

Roll Call says Chaffetz ranks #10 on the list with 6.2% of his constituents using the ACA exchanges, and 89% of those getting federal subsidies.

Chaffetz is getting pounded on social media and by late night comedians for an interview on Tuesday when he said Americans should “instead of getting that new iPhone that they just love and want to go spend hundreds of dollars on that, maybe they should invest in their own healthcare.”

The Republican healthcare bill is getting clobbered from all sides. Conservatives don’t like it because they say it’s too much like Obamacare. Health groups say the bill will lead to a rise in the uninsured.
