Sam Granato, who served on the Salt Lake County Council since 2013, passed away Wednesday.
Granato’s family said he passed away following a more than two-year battle with cancer.
Granato was the 2010 Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, losing to Republican Mike Lee that year.
Granato’s family says details on funeral services will be forthcoming.
