Mitt Romney raised nearly $2 million ahead of his primary matchup with State Rep. Mike Kennedy next week. That haul, along with the $1 million from his failed 2012 presidential campaign, gives him a hefty $1.6 million left in the bank.
So far during this election cycle, Romney has pulled in a total of $2.63 million.
According to pre-primary financial disclosures, Romney has raised a whopping $2.63 million so far during his campaign to replace the retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch, who will step down at the end of this year.
Rep. Kennedy’s campaign says they mailed their financial disclosure, but it is not available on the FEC website yet. Kennedy’s previous filing showed him with $38,000 in donations. Kennedy has also loaned his campaign $250,000, leaving him with $257,000 in cash on hand.
According to the FEC breakdown, California is the most significant source of individual donations to the Romney campaign, followed closely by Utah, Florida, and Massachusetts.
Romney is the clear frontrunner in the GOP primary race against Kennedy. The most recent UtahPolicy.com survey found Romney ahead of Kennedy among likely GOP primary voters by a 43-point margin.
