Even though he has a Twitter account, Rep. Rob Bishop has never sent a single Tweet.
Roll Call says, of the 520 politicians they follow, Bishop is the only one who has never used the microblogging service.
Bishop’s communication director said she signed up Bishop for Twitter simply to keep someone else from taking his name.
“It’s used as a reference point and that is why I initially set it up,” Bishop communications director Melissa Subbotin told HOH.
She explained that registering his name was more about playing defense (“Wanted to make sure someone didn’t take the handle and begin tweeting as though they were Rob,” she shared) than staking out a cyber soap box.
“Twitter just isn’t his thing. Maybe someday that will change but for now, that’s where we are,” she said.
