Chaffetz is the Only 3rd District Candidate Reporting Campaign Cash

Apparently nobody wants to take on Jason Chaffetz in Utah’s 3rd Congressional District. According to the latest round of FEC reports, Chaffetz is the only candidate who is raising money.

Chaffetz reports taking in $177,690 in the last quarter. He spent $102,604, leaving him with $255,944 in the bank.

Chaffetz’s Democratic opponent, Brian Wonnacott, hasn’t filed a single disclosure form since declaring his candidacy. Wonnacott told Utah Policy last week he has received some checks that he has not deposited yet.

It’s not only Wonnacott who is extremely cash poor against Chaffetz. None of his third-party challengers have filed finance disclosures either.

Utah Policy rates the 3rd Congressional District race as “Safe Republican,” meaning Chaffetz should have no trouble hanging on to the seat in November.
