Check Out This Creepy New Political Ad Targeting Women

The GOP-aligned PAC Americans for Shared Prosperity is running an ad urging women to break up with Barack Obama.

The ad, titled "Dating Profile" features a woman talking about how her relationship with Obama has soured since 2008.

"He promised to keep us safe. Have you looked at the news lately?" she says into the camera. "He's on my emails and text messages, spying on me."

At the end of the ad, she says "I know I'm stuck with Barack for two more years. But I'm not stuck with his friends."

Politico reports the ads are set to air nationally over the next few days.

One GOP strategist who worked in the 2012 campaign and with the Republican National Committee pointed out that the spot is very similar to a Web ad the Republican National Committee did in 2012 called “The Breakup.”

“It worked well on digital, but it never moved numbers to justify it on broadcast, as it wasn’t giving any information to voters to move them,” the strategist said. “The ads that the Romney campaign ran focused more on economic issues for women was the obvious stuff that tested well.”
