3/4ths of the voters who went to the polls in 2104 were white. That's just one of the fascinating numbers found in the exit polls from the just completed election.
The Washington Post dug into the numbers and found a few fascinating tidbits.
Consider this. While 75% of voters in 2014 were white, that number is down from the 2010 electorate, which featured 77% white voters.
Some other fascinating figures:
- The gender gap is tightening up. Democrats beat Republicans by just 4% among women in 2014. That's down from 11% in 2012 and 13% in 2008.
- 54% of Americans who voted this year say government is "doing too many things better left to businesses and individuals." Compare that with just 41% who say government "should do more to solve problems."
- Republicans won 36% of the Hispanic vote, which is up from the 27% Mitt Romney won in 2012 and the 34% Republicans garnered in 2010.
- 53% of moderates votes for Democrats while 45% picked Republicans.
