Salt Lake County Democrats Set to Choose New Leadership Saturday

Some in Utah argue the Salt Lake County Democratic Party is essentially the state party since most of the state's Democrats live there.

On Saturday, the Salt Lake County Democrats will gather at Cottonwood High School to choose new leadership.

The two candidates vying to replace Richard Jaramillo as County Party Chair are Clare Collard and Quang Dang. Collard lost her bid for a State Senate Seat to Republican Daniel Thatcher in 2014, while Dang is currently the county party's 1st vice chair.

The race for 1st Vice Chair is between three candidates. Diane Lewis lost her race for Utah House against Rep. Earl Tanner in 2014. Tammy Cousey worked on Rep. Sandra Hollins' successful campaign for legislature last year. Jandy Stetler is a current member of the executive committee and serves on the executive board of the Utah Stonewall Democrats.

The Salt Lake County Democratic Convention takes place Saturday, April 11 at Cottonwood High School. The full agenda is available here.
