Wimmer Not Seeking a Return to Utah’s Capitol Hill

Former Rep. Carl Wimmer says he will not seek to replace Rep. Spencer Cox in the Legislature if Cox is confirmed as Utah’s next Lt. Governor.

In a press release, Wimmer says this is not the time for him to return to the political arena.

There has been some speculation, and I have considered entering the political arena and seeking House District 58 seat recently held by Rep. Spencer Cox, R – Fairview, who is now our Lt. Governor.  To end all speculation, I will not be seeking this seat.

I truly appreciate the outpouring of support, encouragement and financial commitments, but now is not the time for my family and me. We are recent transplants to Sanpete County. My children, wife and I love and cherish it here. We couldn’t be happier.  They love their schools, teachers, friends, the people and church members and I find great fulfillment in my job.  I love being home at night with them and attending their games and activities. I love being an active and engaged dad, husband, and neighbor. Life has never been better.

While I will keep future options open, there are many long-time residents and community leaders that know the unique needs, challenges and opportunities of this area. I look forward to supporting our next representative from this area. Anything I can do to help them, I am at their disposal.

I want to thank everyone for their encouragement and support.  God bless our great state.
