Next Tuesday, Nov. 2, Salt Lake County residents will vote on Proposition 1, a bond for the Utah Museum of Natural History. The $15 million bond will cost the average county household $2.40 per year for 15 years (based on an average house price of $265,000).
If Proposition 1 passes, the money will be used to complete a new building for the Museum. The old building has significant safety concerns for both the visitor and the collections that make it impossible to continue at the present location. The new building is seismically stable, provides a controlled climate to ensure the preservation of the artifacts, as well as being built to conserve energy and water and protect the environment with features that save money and natural resources.
