The “Utah’s Freedom Conference” slated for this Saturday in Salt Lake City welcomes one very high-profile speaker, Nevada Senate Candidate Sharron Angle, who is running to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Rep. Carl Wimmer, who is chairing the conference, says the gathering is a way to bring together a number of loosely knitted organizations in Utah.

“Instead of everyone operating on separate pages, we want to bring them together, set them down and work on a project together.  This conference is a result.,” says Wimmer.  “We are stronger when we are united.  No one group has all of the answers.  We don’t have all the same interests.  We have a wide range of people involved in this, from the Shared Access Alliance to the Patrick Henry Caucus. “

Certainly, the high point of the conference is the appearance of Sharron Angle.  Wimmer says she was going to be in Salt Lake City for a fundraising event, so it made sense to invite her to the conference as well.

What will be the takeaway for participants?  Wimmer says the bottom line is education.  “They’re going to learn about land use, state sovereignty, the economy and the dangers of the extreme deficit.  They are going to leave with intimate knowledge of the problems facing country.”

Other speakers at the conference include Reps. Rob Bishop and Jason Chaffetz, and author Bill Howell.

Information on the conference is available at http://www.utahunited.org.
