Even with a potential “Republican Wave” moving across the 2010 Election landscape, Utah Democrat Jim Matheson’s seat in the House of Representatives still isn’t “in play.”

The Rothenberg Political Report says another dozen House seats held by Democrats are now endangered, but UT-02 is not one of them.

We can no longer dismiss the possibility of a Republican wave so large that Democrats could lose their House majority. We stress, however, that we currently expect Republicans to fall short of the 40 seats they would need.

Rothenberg has previously mused that Matheson may be mulling over retirement in the wake of Scott Brown’s stunning win in Massachusetts.  However, an email from Matheson’s office to Utah Policy states bluntly “Matheson is not retiring.”
