It’s not quite “bring it on,” but Sen. Orrin Hatch says he plans to run for re-election in 2012, and he plans to win.
The Hill’s Ballot Box blog says Hatch bristled when reporters asked him about a possible challenge from Chaffetz in 2012.
"I don't even talk about that," he told The Ballot Box during an exchange with reporters outside the Senate chamber. Hatch then turned to answer a question about ethanol tax credits, but felt compelled to indicate he wasn't afraid of losing next cycle.
"I intend to run, and I intend to win, and that's as [much] as I'll say," Hatch added.
Chaffetz made news this week when he formed a leadership PAC to help him raise campaign money. Many are speculating that money will go toward helping him challenge Hatch for the GOP nomination.
