Mitt Romney is set to make his first visit to the Hawkeye state for a pair of events on May 27.
Romney will speak at an event for the Greater Des Moines Partnership before heading to the Eastern part of the state.
His speech at a Partnership event signals his intention to focus on economic issues rather than gay marriage, abortion or other religious issues that are the focus of other Iowa presidential events organized by Christian conservatives, Romney’s supporters said.
