Another GOP challenger is surging to the head of the 2012 field. A new poll out this morning has Herman Cain tied with Mitt Romney.
The CBS News survey has Cain and Romney tied with 17% support from Republican primary voters, while former frontrunner Rick Perry has dropped to 3rd place with 12%. Results are below:

Herman Cain is now the main choice of Tea Party supporters. He gets 24% support from that group, up from 7% two weeks ago. Those same supporters are abandoning Rick Perry who only gets 12%, down from 30% two weeks ago.
Romney's electability continues to be a big plus for him. 32% of respondents say he has the best chance to beat Barack Obama in 2012. Perry gets 21% followed by Cain at 8%
