On November 10th and 11th, the Utah Hotel & Lodging Association will hold their annual convention and trade show at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The trade show will focus on subjects from immigration policy, finance, legal issues, work force alternatives and more. The final day of the two-day span will also include the hotel industry’s Stars of the Industry Awards ceremony.
“We’ve put a lot of work into making sure that this year’s convention is educational and fun” said Michael Johnson, Executive Director for the UH&LA. “This event is something our industry anticipates each year because it is a time for the hotels in Utah to come together and to get up to the minute training and best practices. It gives our hotels some of the tools they need to be successful.”
Thursday’s Keynote speaker Carol Verret, of Carol Verret and Associates Consulting and Training, will be speaking on “Changes in Customer Buying Behavior Change the Game”. Friday’s Keynote speaker Lauren Irvin, of Smith Travel Research (STR), will be giving an “Industry Overview-Utah & Beyond”. She will present the latest in lodging performance for Utah, as well as the Salt Lake City market and the rest of the country. An exciting addition to this year’s conference is the Top Chef Competition sponsored by Sysco. This will be held on November 10th at 5:00 pm at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The Annual Stars of the Industry Awards Ceremony will be held on November 11th at 12:00 pm at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.
“The awards ceremony is a major part of every year’s convention,” stated Johnson. “It is the industries opportunity to celebrate the best employees in the state. This year will be no different, we’ve received an impressive number of nominations. It will be very interesting and exciting to see which people will be chosen as Stars in their Industry.”
During the ceremony the American Cancer Society will be giving special award to the Shilo Inn Salt Lake City. The Shilo Inn is being recognized for their continued support of the American Cancer Society Hotel Program which aids in providing a place to stay for those undergoing cancer treatments.
