Right now, the race for the Republican nomination in Utah's 2nd Congressional District is wide open.

A UtahPolicy.com survey of Salt Lake County Republican activists found that more than 60% have no preference yet among the candidates who have declared for the open seat being vacated by Rep. Jim Matheson.

Cherilyn Eager is in the front of the crowded field with 19%. Former House Speaker David Clark gets 9%, followed by fomer NFL player Jason Buck at 6% and author Chris Stewart at 5%. Four other candidates each got less than 1%.

UtahPolicy.com surveyed 1,291 Salt Lake County Republicans who attended GOP caucus meetings in either 2008 or 2010.
