Dave Hansen, Sen. Orrin Hatch's campaign manager, tells the New York Times that early results from Thursday's caucuses suggest Hatch will be able to wage a hard fight at the convention.

“One thing pretty sure is that he is not going to be eliminated at the convention,” Mr. Hansen said, referring to Mr. Hatch. Whether the 60 percent could be reached, he added, “it’s too early to say.”

More than a month remains until the April 21 convention to twist arms, make deals and drive home arguments.

“We have a large number of undecideds,” said Holly Richardson, the campaign chairwoman for Dan Liljenquist, a former state senator who is challenging Mr. Hatch for the nomination.
