Here are some startling poll numbers. Sen. Orrin Hatch's campaign releases some polling of GOP delegates showing him squarely in the driver's seat for the Republican nomination.

The survey numbers show Hatch getting 62% from delegates, followed by just 16% for Dan Liljenquist. If a candidate gets 60% at the state convention, they win the nomination outright and avoid a primary.

Whom would you vote for United States Senate

Orrin Hatch

62%

Dan Liljenquist 16%
Chris Herrod 5%
Other 0%
Don't know 17%

Additionally, 57% of those delegates say Hatch has done well enough to deserve another term in Washington.

There is one number in the survey that should give Hatch's main rival for the nomination, Dan Liljenquist, some pause. Hatch has a 78% favorable rating among delegates, while Liljenquist has a 60% favorable rating. that suggests that delegates are familiar with Liljenquist, but he's having trouble convincing them he should be the nominee over Hatch.

62% of those delegates surveyed say this is the first time they've been a delegate to the GOP state convention.
