A new poll puts a fine point on Mitt Romney's problem with women voters. They see jobs and the economy as the #1 issue this year, and they trust Barack Obama more on that issue.
The Ipsos/Reuters poll gives Obama a 51-37% edge among women voters. Obama leads among men by a 47-43% margin.
51% of women and 58% of men say the #1 issue in this election is jobs and the economy. No other issue gets over 20% with either group.
Check out this chart showing who these voters trust on those issues:
| Barack Obama | Mitt Romney | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Men | Women | Men | Women | |
| Foreign policy | 36% | 43% | 54% | 49% |
| Healthcare | 56% | 55% | 32% | 33% |
| Jobs and the economy | 52% | 54% | 37% | 38% |
| Leadership | 48% | 53% | 44% | 42% |
| National security | 38% | 44% | 54% | 49% |
| Representing change | 60% | 62% | 29% | 30% |
| Family values | 44% | 52% | 41% | 39% |
| Taxes | 51% | 50% | 39% | 42% |
These numbers have to be troubling to Romney's campaign as he is attempting to make the economy a centerpiece. But, it looks like voters aren't buying it.
