Will Hatch's 'Charm Offensive' Pay Off?

National Review's Brian Bolduc says Sen. Orrin Hatch's re-election prospects are brighter than those of fellow GOP senator and Tea Party target Dick Lugar because Hatch has been more aggressive in reaching out to conservative activists.

Still, Hatch’s approach is working. He was only 32 votes shy of winning the 60 percent necessary to secure the nomination at the convention. Liljenquist, meanwhile, barely got enough votes to be placed on the ballot. Roger Bringhurst, a tea-party sympathizer who’s supporting Hatch, tells NRO he’s had several in-person encounters with the senator. “I’ve met him at a couple of his meetings,” Bringhurst says. “I’ve talked to him quite a bit. It’s resonating.”

Charm? I guess I missed that when Hatch was trying to explain why he keeps voting to take away my civil rights, or when he said "I despise these people, and I'm not the guy you come in and dump on without getting punched in the mouth." on NPR a couple weeks ago. http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2012/04/12/150506733/tea-party-again-targets-a-utah-gop-senator-and-orrin-hatch-is-fighting-mad
