Sen. Orrin Hatch demands an investigation into the placement of posters in the Labor Department headquarters showing Labor Secretary Hilda Solis marching in protest alongside Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Reports The Daily Caller:

On Tuesday, Hatch wrote to the Labor Department’s Deputy Inspector General Daniel Petrole asking him to “investigate this matter thoroughly to determine whether the insertion of these posters violates any federal laws, including the Hatch Act, and whether the Secretary’s message has created a hostile work environment for any federal employees who might have differing political views.”

Hatch said Solis’ “poster campaign” conveys an “overtly political message.” Hatch said he thinks it’s “vital” to make sure “American taxpayers are not subsidizing partisan political messages, particularly during this contentious election season.” He said it’s also important to “ensure that federal government employees are not subjected [to] political propaganda in the workplace.”

So Hatch is surprised that Hilda Solis is engaging in overt pro-union propagandizing? Why? Her sympathies and intentions were crystal clear during her confirmation hearings, which Hatch attended. Indeed, it was Hatch's "impatience" with efforts made by conservative Senators to stop her nomination that moved her to the Senate floor for a vote. Hatch was not one of the 17 Republicans to vote no on this nomination.

You get what you sow, and Hatch has repeatedly sown support for government-expanding nominations like Solis, like Eric Holder, Like Cass Sunstein, and like Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, whose name he suggested to President Clinton.

It's a little much for Hatch to evince distress now for the crop he sowed.
