Jon Pierpont, Deputy Director of the Department of Workforce Services, has been appointed acting DWS Director by Governor R. Herbert.  Mr. Pierpont’s appointment was announced by the Governor earlier today when he named former DWS Director Kristen Cox as the Director of the newly established Office of Management and Budget.

“I am confident Jon will continue to reinforce continuous process improvement and provide stellar leadership at DWS,” the Governor stated.

Mr. Pierpont has more than twenty years of public service experience with DWS and has played an important role in overseeing and participating in several agency initiatives resulting in more than $30 million savings to Utah taxpayers.  Mr. Pierpont served as the Eligibility Services Division Director and the Director of the Department's largest service area covering Salt Lake and Tooele Counties prior to being named Deputy Director in 2010.

“I am excited for the opportunity to ensure that we continue to make the best use of taxpayers’ dollars as we carry on the efforts of operational excellence and getting all Utahns back to work,” said Mr. Pierpont.  “I’m confident that a smooth transition will take place and that DWS will maintain a high level of service to our customers.”
