Now comes a bill that would exempt from personal bankruptcies a certain value of guns and ammunition.
You don’t want your guns or ammo to be taken if you can’t pay your bills, apparently.
HB149 by freshman Rep. Earl Tanner, R-West Jordan, includes among the many items, like a washer and sewing machine, that can’t be taken in a personal bankruptcy guns and/or ammunition worth more than $250 per individual or $500 per family.
Tanner also wants to make some other changes in the bankruptcy code, including raising the limits of some personal value items, from $40,000 to $60,000, and to add a television set to exempt materials that can be kept by the bankrupt individual or family.
HB149 is set to be heard Tuesday morning in the House Judiciary Committee.
