Utah Valley University (UVU) is recruiting community teams to join in a day of fun and support for a great cause at the first-ever Boots on Base Kickball Tournament on May 18 at Lakeside Park, 1850 W. 400 South, in Orem. Check-in begins at 8 am, with tournament play kicking off at 9 am.
Teams of 10-12 members are invited to register for this double-elimination competition, which is hosted by the UVU Veteran Success Center. A $300 registration fee per team includes team T-shirts, lunch from participating food trucks, and the chance to compete for the tournament trophy.
“Our inaugural kickball tournament is an opportunity to support veteran and military-connected students,” said Kayle Smith, director of the UVU Veteran Success Center. “Military-connected students often run out of VA education benefits after 36 months. Our goal is to help bridge this gap by providing students with the Veteran Success Center Scholarship.”
The tournament aims to bring teams together for a fun and exciting experience while raising funds to support UVU’s veteran and military education programs. All proceeds will go toward military-connected students with scholarships and other educational opportunities.
“I am continually impressed by the desire, determination, and innovation of our students,” said Smith. “It is an opportunity to strengthen and foster a sense of belonging in our community. If you’re looking for a team-building opportunity and a way to build camaraderie, register today.”
