Natalie Pinkney’s statement on preliminary election results

Natalie Pinkney, candidate for Salt Lake County Council At Large C, issued the following statement after the Salt Lake County Clerk’s final election update of the night. While the race is still too close to call, Natalie Pinkney leads her opponent by 6.78%.

“These early results show the power of grassroots organizing even in a race that has more than 1.5 times the number of voters as a congressional district. Despite facing off against a wealthy opponent who was able to self-finance her campaign and rely on large donations from the financial sector, our campaign was able to successfully out-raise our opponent in the general election through the power of small-dollar donors.

Thanks to our supporters and volunteers, our campaign conducted an extensive field operation, knocking on over 23,000 doors, making over 180,000 phone calls, and sending over 150,000 text messages to voters across the county. These personal interactions, combined with our targeted advertisements across radio, TV, social media, online video, and billboards, allowed us to get our message out to voters in all parts of the county.

During this campaign, I have heard countless stories from voters about their struggles to afford housing, their love for our county’s amazing services, and their desire for an end to divisive party politics. That’s why I am committed to working to make housing more affordable, protecting our county services, and focusing on results rather than scoring political points. While the race is still too close to call, I am encouraged by what we are seeing so far.”
