The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) will formally recognize the Women’s Republican Club of Salt Lake City Since 1899 (WRC of SLC) as the oldest women’s Republican club in the United States, celebrating 127 years of continuous service, during its Spring Board Meeting on March 12th in Washington, D.C.
Founded in 1899, the WRC of SLC has served as a steadfast voice for Republican women in Utah for more than a century, promoting civic engagement, leadership development, grassroots activism, and Republican principles at the local, state, and national levels.
The club joined the Utah Federation of Republican Women (UFRW) in 1944, becoming one of many federated clubs across Utah united under the mission of advancing Republican values and empowering women in the political process.
As part of the ceremony, the NFRW will recognize Sylvia Andersen, current President of the WRC of SLC, for her leadership and stewardship of the historic organization during this milestone year. Under her direction, the club continues its longstanding tradition of civic education, community involvement, and political engagement.
“The Women’s Republican Club of Salt Lake City represents more than a century of dedication to Republican ideals and the advancement of women in public life,” said representatives of the NFRW. “Their 127 years of continuous operation is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the strength, resilience, and leadership of Republican women in Utah.”
The NFRW has extended an invitation to Utah’s Congressional Delegation to attend the recognition ceremony and join in honoring this historic accomplishment.
The Spring Board Meeting will bring together Republican women leaders from across the country to celebrate organizational milestones, advance national initiatives, and strengthen grassroots networks nationwide.
