Salt Lake City’s redeveloped Redwood Meadows Park will officially reopen on Tuesday, August 2nd with Mayor Jackie Biskupski and City Council Member James Rogers opening the event at 10:15 a.m.
Redwood Meadows, at 1768 West 400 North, was redeveloped as part of a master planning process with the Jordan Meadows Community and the city’s Parks and Public Lands Division. The process included extensive community input, with a goal of linking surrounding neighborhoods by connecting three adjacent parcels of land.
New amenities were added to the park, including a modern playground, multiuse path, new lighting, and updated landscaping. Park improvements were funded by the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and as a Capitol Improvement Project.
In addition, the Salt Lake City Arts Council dedicated CDBG grant funding for the development of public art within the park. Salt Lake City artists Willy Littig and Nate Srok designed three sculptures after collaborating with the community to develop themes for the artwork. The art pieces represent the animal life that has roamed the area across time, with images of dinosaurs, birds, and mammals displayed throughout the park.
