Governor Appoints Judge to 4th District Juvenile Court

Gov. Gary R. Herbert has appointed Douglas Nielsen as a judge on the 4th District Juvenile Court.

“Judge Nielsen has a sincere desire to serve the people of the State of Utah,” Gov. Herbert said. “His intelligence, thoughtfulness and familiarity with the law will serve him well as he works to fulfill the demands of this new position.”

Nielsen currently serves as a judge for the Lehi City Justice Court and the Highland/Alpine Justice Court. Prior to his service in Utah County, he spent three years (2010-2013) with the Petro & Nielsen Law Office in Provo, Utah. Nielsen received a Bachelor of Science in business management from Utah State University and a Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University.

“I believe the greatest service in the legal profession is to the youth and families of our community,” Nielsen said. “I am honored that Governor Herbert and others have given me this unique opportunity to serve.”

Subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate, Nielsen will fill a position created by the Utah State Legislature during the 2016 general session.
