The Utah Science Technology and Research Initiative is pleased to announce it is accepting proposals for two of its grant programs, the Technology Acceleration Program and the University Technology Acceleration Grants.
These programs target automation and robotics, aerospace, advanced materials, big data, energy and clean technology and the life sciences sectors. USTAR’s TAP, a competitive grant program, supports private sector technology development for Utah-based companies, and targets technologies that are between the technology readiness levels between three and five. While designed for start-ups and early stage companies, mature companies can apply to TAP for development of a new technology or product. Proposed work can include research and development, proof of concept, product validation and product development.
Available to individual researchers or ad-hoc teams employed by Utah colleges or universities, UTAG is a competitive research grant for advancing the maturity of or de-risk technology that has been developed in university labs. UTAG is intended to support research and development of specific technologies between technology readiness level two through five that have significant commercial potential, but need additional development before they can be spun out from the university setting. This funding addresses an innovation ecosystem gap between federal research dollars and angel investment, or the “valley of death.”
