Philadelphia is the first city in the U.S. to ban 3-D gun printing.
Philadelphia Magazine says the city council there voted unanimously to ban guns produced by 3-D printing. The move is designed to head off any problems in the future instead of addressing a current issue.
The author of the bill, Kenyatta Johnson, isn’t aware of of any local gun-printing 3-D printers. ”It’s all pre-emptive,” says Johnson’s director of legislation Steve Cobb. “It’s just based upon internet stuff out there.”
