EVE WinterFest Returns for an Eighth Year, December 26-31, Expanding to Six Days

In its eighth year, EVE WinterFest is a multi-day celebration of art and culture in the urban center to ring in the New Year.

This community-wide event is unique Salt Lake City and Utah. The festival culminates in a memorable countdown experience on the 31st at the Salt Palace, with a 20-foot wide MirrorBall, live music and fireworks.

New & Noteworthy for 2016:

More than 40,000 attendees are expected to take advantage of a $25 multi-day pass to access over a dozen downtown venues. Multi-day passes for children between 3 and 9 years old are $15. Single day tickets are available for both adults and children for $20 and $10, respectively.

A featured EVE benefit is access to the Utah Jazz vs Philadelphia 76ers game on Dec 29, available to multi-day EVE ticket holders. Details for redemption can be found on eveslc.com.

In its eighth year, EVE organizers have committed to continuing fan favorites from past EVE celebrations, most of which are designed to offer warm, indoor experiences at the Salt Palace. BounceTown, a “town” of inflatable houses children and kids at heart can play in, as well as the Planet FitnessBallRoom, featuring lasers, lights, music and beach balls.

The Google Fiber WorldStage, also located indoors at the Salt Palace, showcases Utah’s best cultural performers including Utah Children’s Theatre, Kenshin Taiko drummers, Rumba Libre and theatrical performances. On the 31st, the Big Band Stage comes to life with swing dancing and headliners Caleb Chapman and the Crescent Super Band.

“Expanding to six days is a goal we’ve built towards since EVE’s inception in hopes of capturing a festival-like spirit in the city – similar to the Olympics or Sundance,” said Jason Mathis, executive director for the Downtown Alliance. “Downtown Salt Lake is the perfect backdrop for a memorable community celebration. Plus, it’s an ideal opportunity to get the children out of the house for several days between the holidays at an affordable price.”

Experience a wide range of art exhibits, film screenings, comedy shows, live music, ice-skating, cultural performances and family programming throughout downtown with the America First All Access Pass. With the pass, free admission is included at Clark Planetarium, Off Broadway Theatre, Broadway Centre Cinemas, Discovery Gateway, Wiseguys Comedy at The Gateway and The Leonardo. Ice skating at Gallivan Center is offered at a discount. The venues are limited to one admission per person during EVE. Temple Square, Salt Lake Public Library, City Creek Center and UMOCA are always free, but will have extended hours and programming during EVE.
