Press release: Americans for Affordable Products grows to more than 400 strong

Americans for Affordable Products – a collection of businesses and trade associations seeking to stop the Border Adjustment Tax – announced that its membership has grown to well over 400 corporations and organizations.

Americans for Affordable Products already represents the largest employment sector in the country and speaks for nearly one in four jobs in our nation totaling over 42 million. The job creators joining the coalition recognize the Border Adjustment Tax is a direct threat to their existence and the jobs of their employees.

With the failure in Congress to garner sufficient support for the repeal and replacement of ObamaCare, the support of U.S. House leadership for the Border Adjustment Tax, which serves as a trillion-dollar tax increase on middle-income working households, risks the passage of badly-needed and historic tax reform.

“Last November, voters did not elect Congress to pursue a misguided policy of rewarding profitable, multi-national companies with a permanent tax holiday in exchange for saddling middle-income American families with $1,700 more per year in costs. If leaders in the U.S. House learned anything from the failure of health care reform, they will acknowledge the lack of support for the Border Adjustment Tax and sideline it in the interests of passing legislation that lowers the rates across the board and eliminates loopholes exploited by the same companies seeking to operate tax free. Otherwise, Speaker Ryan and Chairman Brady are placing at unnecessary risk the ability to pass tax reform legislation that fuels economic growth and job creation,” said Joshua Baca, spokesperson, Americans for Affordable Products.
